Reciprocating Vacuum Pumps
Applications
Reciprocating vacuum pumps are used to
- produce a vacuum for distillation and evaporating apparatus, for drum filters, condensing and drying units,
- aerate the mash in yeast production,
- draw gases through liquids,
- evacuate suction lines in waterworks,
- deliver bulk materials by air drawn in, and
- for pneumatic tube conveyors and impregnating lines.
Design Configurations
The machines are single-stage and two-stage double-acting dry-air gate valve vacuum pumps with Vee belt transmission or gear drive mechanism. As the motor is mounted on top of the crankcase the horizontal design with a non-sophisticated base features a compact, space saving construction. The pumps come with a totally enclosed crankcase with inner gate valve drive mechanism. The single-throw or double-throw crankshaft is supported in plain journal bearings. Independent piston rod packings requiring no maintenance are used to seal the piston rod and the valve rod. Reciprocating vacuum pumps have water-cooled cylinders and covers. Only suitable materials are used. The vacuum pumps while safe to operate are properly balanced, featuring a smooth service. Both the single-stage and the two-stage configurations are available as standard version and with an E-Exe flameproof type enclosure.
